School Introduction

Our program provides quality English instruction on a small, safe and beautiful university campus, located in a small and safe typical American small town.
Maryville College has a beautiful, spacious, park-like campus, with nine buildings on the Register of Historic Buildings. The city is just 20 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so the area is full of wonderful opportunities for outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, swimming, and whitewater rafting.
Maryville College is listed annually as one of the top schools in the southern region of the US (US News and World Report). English students may continue studying in our undergraduate programs, and scholarships to the College are available for qualified serious students.

ESL Program Introduction

We feature small classes, starting dates every five weeks, and low costs, and students may live on campus along with American university students, in home-stays, or in apartments near campus.
We usually have 25 to 40 students, placed according to ability in one of 6 levels, with an average class size of 6-9 students. We meet new students at the airport, and take good care of them, providing activities, parties and trips during each session. Our full-time teachers all have masters degrees in teaching English as a second language. In addition to a core curriculum of grammar, reading, writing, and listening/speaking classes, students can choose an extra course in subjects such as TOEFL prep, business English, pronunciation, American film, and more.
