The University of New Orleans, located in a quiet residential area 15 minutes from the French Quarter, has enrolled more than 17,000 students and more than 800 international students. UNO offers more than 100 majors at the Bachelor’s , Master’s, and Doctoral levels. It also has accredited degrees in Business, Engineering, the Sciences, Education, Liberal Arts, and Urban and Public Affairs. In addition, UNO has nationally recognized programs in Naval Architecture, Marine and Petroleum Engineering, Jazz Studies, Tourism, Computer Science, and Business Administration (MBA).
ESL Program Introduction The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) at the University of New Orleans is designed for international students to academically and linguistically prepare for university studies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Six levels of English are taught during 6 sessions throughout the year. Over 1000 students have come from more than 80 different countries and from all areas of the world to learn English and experience the unique culture of New Orleans and the United States. The IELP and the University of New Orleans employ faculty and staff trained to specifically work with international students and to prepare them for their academic studies.
