The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is located in Huntsville, Alabama, one of the largest cities in the state. Situated in the north-central region of the state, Huntsville is best known for its cluster of high-tech industries built around the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA), the U.S. Army's Redstone Arsenal, and other facilities related to the space exploration and defense industries. ESL Program Introduction The Intensive English Program (IEP) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is a competitive program (only 30 seats are available each session) that is designed for academic preparation. Founded on principles of communicative language teaching, the integrated curriculum focuses on improvement in oral and written academic English. Additional attention to interlanguage pragmatics, grammar and pronunciation insures progress in both fluency and accuracy, with special attention paid to real-world interaction in a U.S. university context.
