Thank you for your interest in ESL classes with Wendi Ward, Tulsa's ESL Tutor. I have been teaching English as a Second Language for over ten years to students and professionals in Mexico, Colorado and Oklahoma. I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language and am state certified in Oklahoma to teach English and Spanish.
Whether your focus is TOEFL test preparation, academic writing, listening skills or pronunciation, I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about designing a customized tutoring program for your needs.
My students come from all over the world and have varying goals and needs. Some students are studying for the TOEFL test to enter an undergraduate or graduate program in the United States. Others need to take the TOEFL as part of their company’s international internship program. Some clients already attend a local high school or college and need assistance with their academic writing skills, and many clients are professionals who need to improve their listening or pronunciation skills in the workplace.
I will work with you and your organization to design a program that fits your skill level, needs and goals. Groups that share similar goals and a similar level of English proficiency may study together. Tutoring sessions for individuals are usually held in a public library. Group classes may be held at your company’s location or other classroom facility that is conveniently located.
Your ESL tutoring schedule will be determined based on the time frame that is appropriate for your goals. Individual sessions are usually held for one hour at a time, several times a week. Group sessions may be two to three hours and can be held once a week or more. Evening and weekend classes are common.
Most tutoring courses require the purchase of a textbook unless the student is already studying at a school and is seeking additional academic support.
