School Introduction

Joanne T. Chen Accent Reduction Services focuses exclusively on the instruction of verbal communication - specifically accent reduction/modification and public speaking. We serve executives and professionals in industries, such as nursing, pharmaceutical, and IT. We are conveniently located near major highways in San Diego, CA. Our facility includes air-conditioned classrooms, an auditorium, a library, and kitchen.

Programs are run by speech coach Joanne Chen, a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. Her background includes business, public speaking, the performing arts, PR/marketing, and broadcast and print journalism. She is a member of the American Society for Training and Development, Lessac Training & Research Institute, and North Coast Toastmasters. She has also been featured with three Toastmasters World Champions on the educational CD, Panic to Power: Swift and Simple Speaking Strategies Anyone Can Use.

ESL Program Introduction

Joanne Chen's accent reduction courses target the needs of intermediate and advanced-level non-native speakers. Types of instruction include small group courses (class size: eight students maximum) and private coaching. She also offers seminars and private coaching on public speaking. Private coaching programs (10 weeks in duration) can start any time and currently cost $995.

Small group courses (10 weeks in duration) are offered on a quarterly basis and currently cost $650.
