Computer Systems Institute (CSI) is a private, for-profit institution that was founded in 1989 to serve students struggling to prepare themselves for the demands of an ever-changing computer industry. As computers became integral to careers in both allied health adn business, CSI expanded its program offerings to include short certificate and diploma programs targeted to adult professionals employed in or seeking imployment in the medical and business industries.
CSI currently offers a variety of certificate programs with the approval of the Illinois Superintendent of Public Instruction at its Skokie, Illinois campus and additional teaching locations in Chicago, Lombard and Gurnee.
In 2006, with Illinois Board of Higher Education approval of our first degree program, we at CSI will take a first step to providing our students with the enhanced opportunity for education and career advancement that is afforded by an applied associate's degree with a solid foundation in general education.
At Computer Systems Institute, it is our mission to provide high quality certificate, diploma and applied degree programs that support the success of our graduates in selected careers within the computer industry.
The mission of the English as a Second Language Program at Computer Systems Institute (CSI) is to empower non-native English speaking students with the language skills and academic strategies necessary to achieve their personal and professional goals. To execute the Mission, ESL Program offers its students level-based classes in reading, vocabulary, writing, and oral skills that utilize Blended Learning Methodology.
CSI subscribes to the whole language instructional approach, which promotes integration of the communicative skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Creative and thematic lessons are planned using all skills. Additionally, a sense of community is present in CSI classrooms where adult learners become aware and sensitive to varying ethnicities and cultures. Cultural practices are shared and discussed to broaden the learning potential in the classroom.
