Washington, D.C. is also mentioned as one of the most important and beautiful cities in the world, with a fascinating mixture of the old and the modern.

ESL Program Introduction

Classes are offered at 12 levels, from beginning to the most advanced. After Level 9, elective courses are offered, such as American Business Culture, Advanced Conversation, Advanced Reading, Grammar and Writing, TOEFL TestPrep (Test of English as a Foreign Language - required by U.S. colleges and universities), and GRE/GMAT TestPrep courses (Graduate Record Examinations /Graduate Management Aptitude Test). inlingua® Washington, DC is also an official TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) test center. It is administered monthly, and is also open to those not enrolled at inlingua®. Classes are held all year round, except for national holidays.

METHOD & AMBIANCE:

Students are exposed to the language at all times, which ensures that they will begin to think in English. The program includes speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills development. Classes take place in a friendly and professional environment and are conducted by qualified native-speaking English teachers. To ensure personal attention to the students' needs, classes are kept small.

Housing/Accommodation Info

You must request Homestay at least 4 weeks in advance to find you a suitable American family. All payments are to be made directly to inlingua®. Please complete our Application for Admission online and fill in the required Homestay section. You must also fully complete the credit card section. Your credit card will be then charged $195 for the one-time non-refundable finder’s fee, plus your homestay expenses for the first month, or for your full stay if under one month. Homestay expenses are as follow: $28.50 per night if you will stay for a minimum of 21 nights, and $32.50 per night for stays under 21 nights. Once the finder’s fee and the Homestay expenses have been paid inlingua® will start looking for a family for you. The minimum stay is one month, unless the student notifies inlingua® of a shorter initial period at the time of requesting this service. There is no refund if the student leaves the family during the required initial period. Payment for the next period of Homestay must be made no later than the last working day of your current Homestay period. If for any reason the student must leave the family after a new term starts, both inlingua® and the family must be informed at least two weeks in advance to get a refund for the remaining days that the student will not be living there. The Finder's fee is fully refundable only if inlingua® fails to provide a family within three weeks of the request. Homestay includes, but is not limited to, a private furnished bedroom, breakfast and dinner seven days a week, plus lunch on weekends. As in any city, it normally takes approximately 40 to 60 minutes to get to school, either by bus, Metro or both. Please note and keep in mind that transportation fees may affect your budget if both bus and Metro are required to come to school. This is not a valid reason to request another family. Our families are carefully selected. Host families may include couples with or without children, single parents, widows, inter-racial couples, and/or foreign spouses. The purpose of your stay is to be in a friendly and safe atmosphere where you will have the opportunity to practice English. inlingua® is not responsible for illnesses, accidents or problems of any kind that may occur during the Homestay period. Health insurance coverage is mandatory for F-1 students (Student Visas), and it is highly recommended for any other students to meet the frequently expensive cost of treatments and hospitalization, if needed. It can be easily obtained through inlingua® in case the student does not arrive with his/her own insurance.
