For over 30 years, LADO International College has specialized in providing quality, comprehensive English language instruction at reasonable prices. Over 3,500 students attend our nationally accredited school each year and experience first-hand the LADO difference:
Effective Methodology - LADO’s proven methodology is based on the work of Dr. Robert Lado, renowned applied linguist. Our methodology integrates every aspect of language learning: reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar and pronunciation. In the Intensive Program, students can expect to reach college-level proficiency in about one year.
Internationally Recognized Instructional Materials - Our instructional materials were created by applied linguist and LADO founder, Dr. Robert Lado. Dr. Lado’s English Series, which is used in the first six levels of our program, has been sold in over 80 countries around the world.
Experieced Teachers - At LADO, many of our dynamic teachers hold master’s and doctoral degrees and have over five years of experience teaching ESL/EFL. Many of our teachers have also lived and worked abroad and are fluent in multiple languages.
Personal Attention – Thanks to LADO’s small class sizes, student-centered approach, and emphasis on student talk time, our students receive the individual attention they need to excel.
Reasonable Prices - You do not have to pay more for a quality education. LADO’s affordable programs match your learning needs and your budget.
Flexible Schedule - LADO offers a variety of programs suited to different lifestyles. Whether you are interested in a full-time, intensive program, or a quality evening or weekend experience, LADO has a program for you. And with sessions beginning year-round, LADO fits your life.
Support from Professional Staff - LADO Admissions Officers are knowledgeable and courteous. They will assist you with your needs from registration through graduation, including:
- Placement and registration
- Student visa application forms
- Housing placement
- Transferring to a college or university
All of our Admissions Officers speak two or more languages.
Recreational Opportunities - With three locations in and around Washington, DC, LADO International College is situated near some of the most important cultural and historical sites in the United States. Our students enjoy recreational and cultural opportunities, including field trips, picnics, parties, sporting events and social activities.
Intensive Program - LADO’s Intensive Program is designed for students who want to progress rapidly and see immediate results. Classes are held five days per week during the day or evening. [Evening classes are held at our Arlington, VA campus only]. Each session lasts four weeks. The Intensive Program is the only option for students with an F-1 Student Visa.
Semi-Intensive Program - For working students, LADO offers a Semi-Intensive Program. This program allows students to enjoy rapid progress while maintaining a busy lifestyle. Classes for this program are held four days per week in the evenings. Each session lasts eight weeks. The Semi-Intensive Program is also offered in the morning at our Arlington, VA campus.
Saturday Program - For those students who have irregular or extremely busy schedules, LADO offers a Saturday Program. Classes meet once a week for eight weeks.
Afternoon Workshops - For students who want to practice in specific aspects of English, LADO offers afternoon workshops. The workshops meet twice a week for three weeks. Each workshop focuses on one of the following areas:
- Conversation
- Pronunciation
- Grammar

Tutorials - Tutorials are offered for students who cannot attend regularly scheduled classes or who want extra help outside of class. These special sessions are scheduled individually.
