The Eastern English Language Instruction Program (EELI) is located on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) in Richmond, Kentucky. EKU has an enrollment of approximately 16,000 students and offers quality instruction in the liberal arts, business, education, nursing, law enforcement, computer technology, occupational therapy, and other degree areas. Richmond, with a population of 27,000, is a quiet, safe place, perfect for serious studying. The town offers students a pleasant, friendly, and supportive, environment. ESL Program Introduction EELI offers five levels of instruction from beginning to advanced. The objectives of EELI are: to prepare students to speak and interact comfortably in English; to help learners improve reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English in order to perform successfully in university degree programs in the U.S., in short-term study programs, or for personal satisfaction; to orient students to North American culture and society outside of the classroom. Graduates of EELI may apply for admission into Eastern Kentucky University’s undergraduate programs without a TOEFL score required. Background Data
