School Introduction

Meridian School is located on 6 acres in beautiful Provo, Utah, near Brigham Young University. Meridian is a Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade day school, with an exceptional ESL / Homestay program for students 12 to 18 years old. Meridian continues in the tradition of classical education, with a Core Knowledge and liberal arts emphasis. We use the Utah State Core Curriculum as a general guideline for course subject matter, and then we expand on those standards and content to provide a richer, hands-on learning experience. Prior to graduation all Meridian students must complete a rigorous core curriculum in English, Mathematics, History, Foreign Language, and Science. The Meridian graduation requirements are designed to prepare motivated students for success at the best colleges and universities in the nation. Advanced Placement (AP) courses include Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Calculus, Statistics, English, History, Psychology, French, and German. Meridian is accredited by the National Association of Schools and of Colleges and Universities (NASCU).

ESL Program Introduction

Meridian contracts with the staff at Excell Language Learning school to oversee the ESL / International Program. International students with F1 visas come to Meridian to learn English, prepare for the TOEFL exam, and gain entry to an American college or university of their choice. Students live with local Homestay families. Annual ESL enrollment is 20-30 students, mostly from Korea, Japan, Thailand, Germany, and China. As English proficiency increases, students are mainstreamed into the regular core and elective classes. If desired, students can participate in extra-curricular activities such as basketball, volleyball, drama, choir, and field trips.
