Established in 1965, HPU is the largest, independent, private, comprehensive university in the state of Hawaii. Its 9,000 students come from all 50 U.S. states as well as from more than 100 countries. Student may choose from more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs including Business, Computer Science, Travel Industry Management, Oceanography, MBA, MA, MS, and MSIS, and long- and short-term English programs. Its English Language Program is the 3rd largest in the U.S. International student services include airport pickup, orientation sessions, free tutoring and academic advising and assistance with visas, passports, government regulations, immigration and housing.
The EFP is the academic, for-credit program preparing students to successfully enter an undergraduate or graduate degree program at HPU. Students choose from a variety of courses in speaking, writing, reading, listening comprehension, and grammar.
PEP, the four-week intensive English program has a small class size, a relaxed yet stimulating atmosphere for developing listening and speaking skills, and a focus on practical skills to increase student confidence in using English in daily and professional life. During the 20 class hours each week, students gain fluency and confidence speaking about a variety of topics. Through planned activities, students also experience and learn about the culture and beauty of Hawai'i.
