From its convenient location, Valparaiso residents can enjoy the cultural and intellectual life of nearby Chicago (approximately 50 miles), and sandy beaches of Lake Michigan and natural beauty of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. ESL Program Introduction Most Interlink faculty have at least a Master's degree in Linguistics or in Teaching of English as a Second Language. The Interlink curriculum focuses on student needs and accommodates different learning styles, utilizing a communicative, experiential, whole-language approach. Courses are offered at 5 different levels of proficiency in 9-week sessions. Core courses focus on specific language skills and academic preparation; modules provide opportunities to study areas of interest or need, such as cultural orientation, computer use, current events, public speaking, and TOEFL test-taking strategies. Students completing the 5th Interlink level will generally have the linguistic, academic and social skills necessary for success at an American University. Background Data
