Tne IEP at West Virginia University is located in a safe friendly community in the scenic mountains of West Virginia. The university has 23,000 students on two campuses linked by a Personal Rapid Transit System and is a major research and medical center for the entire state. There are many outdoor sports in the area, including skiing, whitewater rafting, and mountain biking, and the university hosts a great variety of musical and cultural events. ESL Program Introduction The Intensive English Program (IEP) at West Virginia University has been offering courses in academic and professional English since 1979. Providing instruction at 6 levels from beginning to advanced, the program offers a core curriculum of Communication Skills, Reading and Vocabulary, Writing and Study Skills and Grammar, as well as a choice of elective courses which include TOEFL Preparation, Business English and Freshman Orientation. Full-time students are in class for a minimum of 21 hours per week and can make use of the extensive resources available in the Language Lab outside class hours.
