School Introduction

Our students stay in beautiful and spacious hotel apartments at the Hotel Brenscino. Each apartment will accommodate four campers. The students are assigned to their apartment according to gender. The Hotel Brenscino (www.brenscino.ch), is four-star hotel with delicious cuisine taken in the dining room for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Rooms include a private bath, radio, telephone, and daily maid service. The campers also can enjoy the hotel’s private swimming pool, mini golf, and bowling alley. All sports instruction takes place at the famous Centro Sportivo (www.cstenero.ch) in Tenero, which has the facilities for many different summer sports including soccer fields, squash courts, tennis courts, gymnasiums, swimming pools, rock-climbing wall, fitness tracks, and beach volleyball courts. A highly trained, professional instructor leads each sports lesson from the Centro Sportivo. Students and staff work and play together to combine the discovery and practice of sports and learning or improving language skills. In order to accentuate the language curriculum, we also include lessons in filmmaking, and each camper returns home with a DVD yearbook of the camp experience. Also, each student is also offered a wide variety of sports activities from which to choose a focus for the session. Some examples are windsurfing rock-climbing, soccer, and tennis. They are also able to participate in activities just for fun like beach volleyball, basketball, badminton, trampoline, in-line skating, skate hockey, swimming, and much more.

ESL Program Introduction

The Hotel Brenscino, where the campers stay, is located near the picturesque town of Ascona in the Italian speaking Canton of Switzerland, named Ticino. Known for it’s warm, sunny days, Ascona is surrounded by beautiful lakes and lush mountain valleys. Campers enjoy mountain and lake views, ancient villages, and a Mediterranean climate. This area is a cosmopolitan resort situated on Lago Maggiore. People come from all over the world to experience this canton of Southern Switzerland.

What makes the language study effective is that the campers have a chance to perfect their language both inside and outside of the classroom. The language program includes at least 6 hours per week of language instruction in a classroom setting, with additional 6 hours support in filmmaking lessons. The students also have a chance to practice throughout the day with their friends and counselors in sports and activities.
