Kelowna is B.C.'s premier summer and winter resort city with a population of 110,000. Kelowna receives over 300 days of sunshine per year making it one of Canada's sunniest and mildest destinations. The city is world renowned for its white sand beaches, fabulous watersports, internationally acclaimed vineyards, championship golf courses, lush orchards and the nearby ski resorts of Big White and Silverstar Mountains. Also, 93% of Kelowna residents speak English as a first language so your skills will improve faster than in larger cities like Vancouver or Toronto where only 50% of residents speak English as a first language.
Our upscale campus is located on the second floor of the Towne Centre Fashion Mall in the vibrant downtown core. IGK is within easy walking distance of beaches, shops, attractions and transportation. IGK is an official Cambridge Exam Centre.
Our Practical English as a Second Language programs feature individualized learning with a maximum class size of 10 and an average of 5. Students can choose 15, 25 or 30 study hours per week.
The are 5 levels of Practical ESL (listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar) in the morning. Students choose from a variety of afternoon electives depending on their level and interest such as: Conversation, Canadian Culture, Media, Business English, Slang, TOEFL-iBT TOEIC and Cambridge PET/FCE/CAE/BEC exam preparation.
IGK also offers Internships, Volunteer Placements, High School Preparation (ages 12 to 18) and a Work and Study Program. We also offer Wine and Dog Grooming Certificate programs integrated with Canadian students.
Summer and Winter Youth Vacation Camps for Ages 8 to 19 include: ESL + Activities, Golf, Soccer or Ice Hockey and an ESL + High School Experience. Most camps are integrated with Canadian teens to maximize cross-cultural learning.
Action Camps for adults feature: ESL+Agricultural and Wine Tours, ESL+ 'Hot' Yoga, ESL+Golf, Farmstays and Equestrian Camps.
The IGK homestay coordinator can book homestay, motel, hotel, hostel or farm stay accommodation for you.
